We have 2 Evergreen Solar panels 180 watts each, Tristar 60Amp Controller, 2, 400 watt Air-x wind generators, about 8 marine deep cycle batteries from walmart now. A 250A DC breakerbox from Midnight Solar, Xantrex DR-2412 2400Watt Inverter, and a Reliance transfer switch. So far the system has cost about $6000 with everything overbuilt to be upgradeable with more solar panels as soon as we get some more funding! More videos soon lots has changed since winter has set in.

A solar panel is a device which converts sunlight into electricity. These are also known by a scientific name ‘Photovoltaic’ and contain a collection of solar cells. A large number of cells are spread over a large area and they work together to generate power. Low maintenance and negligible wear and tear are big advantages as compared to other power sources. However, they suffer from a disadvantage that as the distance from sun increases, the amount of electricity generated by the panel decreases quickly.
When we talk about renewable energy we are referring to power that delivers energy from resources that will not be depleted because of our use of them. Renewable energy is an alternative to non-renewable fossil fuel energy for reasons other than the factor of non-depletion.
This is a powerful solar panel which is ideal where you need portable 12V power away from the mains. Many similar units generate just 1.5W of power – this one generates 13W. Folds away in the style of a briefcase when not in use. Ideal for camping, caravanning and marine use.

A town in Wales is to be turned into Wales’ first ‘low-carbon zone’. In the first year of the new scheme residents in Aberdare in the Cynon Valley will be provided with solar photovoltaic panels for producing electricity, solar thermal hot water heating systems, smart meters and low energy street lights.
